🙋‍♀️ The #1 question I get when I talk about the incredible benefits of journaling in terms of emotional regulation, self-reflection & even physical health: How do I start ?

✍️🤗 Let me share some tips below that have helped my clients to get started

🏃‍♂️ Just start: write one first sentence, anything that comes to mind, and then keep putting down on paper the thoughts in your head, letting go of judgement or control

🎓❌ Do the opposite of what you learned at school: Ignore grammar, spelling, style or structure. Focus on the process of writing and reflecting, and let go of the outcome.

🌎Write in whatever language feels easiest, whether your native language or not.

🤪😭😤🤩 Be true to your real emotions & thoughts: Don't self-censor in fear of sounding "too much": too negative, too lame, etc. This is the one place where you can be completely yourself. The more you go to the parts of yourself that you don't want to admit, the more insight and healing you will find.

☕🍵🍷Make writing into an enjoyable ritual: Pair with an activity you enjoy, like going to a café you love, having a glass of tea/wine, lighting a candle or playing great music. Put your phone and other distractions in another room.

📝 Write on pen & paper, rather than phone or laptop. Follow any style of writing that you like: bullet points, sketches, diagrams, free flow writing, drawings, etc.
